Use us as a dump site for your discarded strings of holiday lights. If you have tangled ropes of lights that no longer work, bring them in to the collection bin in the co-op’s foyer. That’s right! Dump it on us.
Through January 10, a new statewide holiday lights recycling program allows all electrical cords and holiday light strings to At vocational centers throughout Minnesota, the bulbs will be removed from the cords for recycling. The cords will then be sent to China to a recycling plant that chops and doesn’t burn the rubber off the wiring; the copper will be recycled.
What is eligible? Any electric cords, including those for holiday lights, cords used for animal figurines, extension cords, or telephone wires will be accepted in the bins.
